Summer School 2011

This year edition of the Value of Culture took again place at Amsterdam University College, in Amsterdam.

Through the conversation with the faculty composed of academicians coming from various countries, participants got theoretical insights.

Like in the previous editions participants met   professionals active in the cultural sector. Cees Langeveld and Ronald Klamer illustrated them the theatre world providing them both a theoretical and practical picture

... with Olav Velthuis participants learnt about the relationship between galleries and artists. Also this year we had a special session at Christie’s Amsterdam where Jetzke provided a thorough description of the evolution of auctions of contemporary art.

Of course, participants were challenged to prepare a presentation about a cultural project ...

This year, CREARE introduced a new intensive course focusing on cultural heritage and museums. This course took place at Het Toneel Speelt in Amsterdam.

The special location gave a special coziness to the course where participants shared ideas, questions and thoughts with the faculty.

Francoise Benhamou provided a thorough analysis of the museum sector matching the theory with data and examples from France.

Romilda Rizzo gave students an extensive illustration of the main theoretical issues about cultural heritage.

Participants brought their own cases providing interesting examples to test the theory.
