Arrival at the airport

When you arrive at the airport you can go to Amsterdam by train. Amsterdam Central is the most important station but depending on where your accommodation is located other stations could be more practical.
The train station is under the airport so you don’t need to go out from the airport. Just reach the main hall where you can buy the train ticket at the ticket office. You can also buy it with credit card at the various machines you’ll find in the main hall (there is one also at the luggage claim hall). You can find more info at:

Public transport

Amsterdam' s public transport is quite good, from trams, metro and night buses to ferries. The latter are free of charge and you can take them from Central Station going out to Amsterdam North. In order to make the most of your public transport use we advise to buy an anonymous OV-Chipcard or probably the most convenient is the OV168 hours card. You can purchase it at the counters of public transport companies, vending machines at the station. It can be toped up with credit in € using paper money or a debit card/credit card, the minimum amount of credit is €5. With the OV-Chipcard you can travel anywhere within Holland.
